Odds & Ends

1.       BIG day today…my sister Julia is getting married! If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, you might have noticed the progression of these relationship, at least subtly. I introduced the guy to all of you when I coerced him from his “dessert hating” ways with blueberry streusel bars with lemon cream filling. You knew I approved of him when I made him homemade Cheez-Its. You saw us celebrate their engagement with a very MARRY Pizza Party. I then provided a droolworthy dessert for the “Meet the Parents” shindig, and since then it’s been lots and lots of wedding planning, prep, and partying. Today we finally get to see this couple who is so obviously made for each other tie the knot. It’s going to be one heck of a celebration! I’ll share pictures and more details in the weeks to come, but if you follow me on twitter or instagram (@thesweetslife...we'll be using the hastag #NateJuliaWed), you’ll likely get a firsthand look at the events of the weekend!

2.       While in New York two weeks ago (more details on THAT coming tomorrow), I got to spend time with a college friend I hadn’t seen in probably five years. I was delighted to see he hasn’t changed one bit since our college days, but he has since started rather amazing NYC Panoramic Picture blog. Check it out—such incredible shots of New York!

3.       Speaking of New York, did you know you can kayak for free on the Hudson River? We kayaked off of Pier 40 and were so impressed by everything--the kindness of the volunteers, the awesome view of the New York skyline, and the fact that no one thought we were too weird when the four of us lathered up and showered on the pier afterward [using a shower head likely intended for rinsing your feet, not shampooing!]. The rest of THAT story to come on another day!

4.       In a previous Odds & Ends post, I talked about the sports bras that Champion recently sent me and hinted at a giveaway. That time has come! They’re giving away one of their Smoothie sports bras. They sent me one to test out and while it’s intended to be a high support sports bra (something I definitely don’t need ahem), I actually really liked it. It’s comfortable and fit well, even if I wasn’t looking for lots of extra support. Want to win one for yourself? Leave a comment on this post with what activity you’ll wear it for—are you into runner? Yoga? Crossfit? I want to hear! I’ll pick a random winner on Tuesday and announce the winner in Wednesday’s post!
(not me, for the record :))
