About Me

Hi, I'm Natalie, the author, chef/baker, and photographer behind The Sweets Life. Growing up, I watched my mom cook wonderful meals and throw fabulous dinner parties. I never imagined I would follow in her footsteps. I loved (and still love!) to eat, but cooking just didn't interest me. Much to my surprise, marriage changed that. My hungry husband, Ryan, was more than willing to take on kitchen duties, but little by little I discovered that I had a passion for not just eating food, but preparing it.

I started The Sweets Life in August of 2009, after a running injury kept me sitting around with extra energy. Ryan was well aware of my obsession with reading food blogs and suggested I start my own to keep me busy and keep my mind off of my inability to run. Fast forward to the present and I've turned my little blog into an ever-growing hobby.
My two passions--running and cooking--balance each other quite well! On this blog you'll find a little bit of everything, from healthy dinners to decadent desserts. I believe everything should be eaten in moderation and aside from that, I don't really subscribe to any "rules" when it comes to what we eat in our household.

Traveling, and eating along the way, is something else I love to do. Ryan and I have great plans for visiting different parts of the world and since starting the blog, I've tried to recap our eating experiences along the way. Check out my Restaurant Review page to see some of the places we've been eating at, both in St. Louis, where we live, and in some of the cities we've visited together.

Thanks for stopping by The Sweets Life! I hope you find something you like! I love hearing from readers so please contact me with questions, feedback, or anything else on your mind.
