Odds & Ends

1. I saw this article, "If Everybody Likes You, You are Doing it Wrong" linked to on another blog and it piqued my curiosity. Moral of the story: according to the author, a clinical psychologist, you want to follow the 85% rule--meaning approximately 85% of people like you. I am not a people pleaser, but I like to think I'm close to hitting that 85% mark ;)

2. Two weeks ago we celebrated a very special birthday. Charlie, our good friends Mike and Maggie's little boy, turned ONE. We spend a lot of time with him and it's kind of crazy to see how much he's grown and changed over the past year. The celebration was complete with a Mexican feast featuring quite a few Sweets Life recipes! Maggie made the avocado cream enchiladas, the spicy chicken enchiladas, black bean hummus, spicy homemade salsa (pictured above), and homemade funfetti cupcakes. I'll be sharing the two recipes I made for the party in the next few weeks...they're both ones you'll want in your arsenal!

3. You guys know I've been sucked into podcasts, and The Public Speaker is one a friend introduced me to. Even if public speaking isn't something you're ever required to do, I think the tips on these short (5-10 minute) podcasts are helpful for anyone who does a lot of communicating...which, let's be honest, is all of us. I have downloaded a ton from the archives covering topics like how to introduce yourself, how to read body language, and how to make your words memorable.

4. I am loving these cupcake bouquets from Cupcake Project. They don't look too hard and they'd make a perfect gift or centerpiece. You could easily switch up the color of the frosting or the "vase". This is one pin I'm determined to try sometime!
