Odds & Ends

1.   Last November, my bike was stolen from our garage. We stupidly left the garage open and unattended for a whopping five minutes and someone took the liberty to help themselves to a new set of wheels. To say I was disappointment was an understatement—I love biking around St. Louis and we use it for a form of transportation whenever we can in the summer. Last month I finally replaced my bike and after checking out three different bike stores (at the insistence of my very meticulous decision maker of a husband!), I ended up with a brand new Trek from Maplewood Cyclery. I know most of my readers are from outside of STL, but for those of you in the area, I can't recommend this place more! The people were so friendly and helpful and I couldn't be happier with my new bike!
2. My cousin Ben is well on his way to his own music career, and living in Nashville, he has a ton of musician friends. The perks of having musician friends? You get to star in music videos! Ben and his girlfriend Emily have cameos in the music video for If It Don't Feel Like This (see above for a snapshot). Not only was it fun seeing the two of them ham it up for the camera, but I am kind of obsessed with the song too—doesn't it belong on the radio?! Perfect summer song!

3. Kodiak Cakes offered to send me some of their flapjack and waffle mix, which I willingly accepted. Things I love about this mix: its ease of use (just add water!), its taste (honey flavored!), and its  ingredients (whole wheat flour!). Things I didn't love about the mix: nothing! Seriously! Though I am all about homemade pancakes, sometimes there isn't any time to pull out a bunch of bowls and mixing cups. These are quick enough to whip up in just a few minutes, yet taste like you slaved over the batter. I served them to our pastor's kids a few weeks ago when babysitting, thinking I made enough for leftovers, and they ate every.single.one. Click here to find out where in your state you can buy some...or leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite kind of pancakes for a chance to win some coupons for a free box. I'll pick THREE random winner Monday night! Kodiak Cakes Pancake Mix winners (picked via Random Number Generator) are #4 (Juli) , #2 (Barb), and #9 (Julia). If you're a winner, email natalie@thesweetslife.com with your full name and address so that Kodiak Cakes can send you coupons for free mix!
4. It's ice cream season! I need to clear out some space in my freezer so that I can stock it with salted caramel pretzel ice cream (pictured above), coconut rum ice cream, and banana pudding ice cream (amongst all of our other ice cream favorites!).
