Odds & Ends

1. If you aren't reading Suri's Burn Book, you really need to be. I've completely convinced myself that it is indeed Suri Cruise (Suri Holmes? Suri Holmes Cruise?) behind the snark. Whether you love or hate celebrity gossip, you won't be able to get enough of the sarcastic look at celebrity children, as told through the viewpoint of "Suri".

2. I finished the book Wild by Cheryl Strayed a few weeks ago. It was actually my book club's pick this month but had been on my list after reading several reviews (like this great one from the NY Times). I finished it in just a few days, soaking up Cheryl's adventurous story of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. At the end of it I was ready for a backpacking trip (though not necessarily one like hers). Even if you aren't "outdoorsy", I think anyone can appreciate her cathartic tale.

3. Last Saturday Ryan and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Cleveland-Heath, located about 45 minutes away from us in Edwardsville, IL. I'd heard nothing but good things about the place whose owners boast credentials from the Culinary Institute of America in Napa and Thomas Keller's French Laundry and Per Se. Our meal did not disappoint (and thank you St. Louis friends and bloggers who helped convince me to go here!)...it actually reminded Ryan and I a lot of Home Wine Kitchen. Although everything we had was good, my favorite was the autumn salad (which featured persimmons!) and the cheddar biscuit. I'd go back for the biscuit alone! I completely understand why Cleveland-Heath is receiving so much positive press--definitely worth a stop if you're in the St. Louis area!

4. You're not sick of pumpkin yet are you? We have a good three to four weeks before it's time to switch over to gingerbread and mint, and there are a few pumpkin recipes you should consider making this month...check out the list below of a few of my favorite pumpkin recipes from the archives!
