These sandwiches hold a special place in my heart. First, we used freshly made sourdough (from that same starter I used for pancakes!) for the bread. Second, this was the first meal we ate outside in 2012….and it was on March 12th!! I am not at all complaining about the early onset of Spring, especially now that daylight savings has hit and we have extra light to enjoy in the evenings.
If you find yourself with leftover Easter ham in a few days, this would be a great way to use it up. If you’re panini-press-less, just make them as you would a grilled cheese on a skillet. Other proteins like bacon, chicken, or turkey, would be equally good in place of the ham.
Who needs Panera Bread Company when you get sandwiches like this straight from your own kitchen at a fraction of the price?!
