S'mores Ice Cream

I am a marshmallow lover, through and through. Big, small, flavored, homemade, Peeps, fluff…I love them all.  The second I saw this s’mores ice cream, it immediately jumped to the top of my “ice creams to make” list, right up there ahead of coconut and root beer float (which will hopefully be on their way soon!). Melting marshmallows into an ice cream base and stirring in chocolate and graham crackers? Count me in!

This was as good as I had hoped. I wish the marshmallow flavor came through a little stronger, and I’ve since seen some recipes for toasted marshmallow ice cream that I may try next. When it’s too hot to sit outside around a campfire (and believe me, a St. Louis August is way too hot for anything like that!), this is the perfect substitute. If you’re anything like me, you’ll still end up with chocolate stains on your shorts and marshmallow on your face!

On another note, it’s been awhile since I’ve talked about our new house and in particular, my new (bigger!) kitchen. Now that I’ve been cooking and baking in it for a few months, the honeymoon phase has passed and I’ve discovered a few frustrations. In reality though, I’ll probably never be satisfied until I have an industrial sized kitchen with a staff to clean up after me (aka in my dreams). One thing I love about my new kitchen: the décor!

Originally I had planned on printing off a few photographs of dishes I’d made and finding clear frames for them. Then I got an email from Megan at Easy Canvas Prints who offered me the chance to print one of my photographs for free! I decided to give it a go and ended up loving the finished product (a canvas of my raspberry truffle tarts) so much that I went and ordered another four for my kitchen wall.
I couldn’t be happier with the pictures. It’s so fun to look up and see recipes I’ve made looking absolutely gorgeous on the wall. I have grand plans to fill my entire wall (eventually) with more canvases of my photographs. Paired with The Sweets Life sign my mom painted for our kitchen , it truly is a Sweets Life kitchen! One Year Ago: Thai Salad with Peanut Dressing

S'mores Ice Cream

Ingredients:
-1/2 of a 10 oz. package of mini marshmallows
-1 cup milk (I used whole milk)
-1 1/2 cups heavy cream
-1 large Hershey's chocolate bar, cut into chunks
-3 graham cracker sheets, broken into chunks

Directions:
1. In a large saucepan, heat marshmallows, milk, and heavy cream. Stir constantly until marshmallows are melted and mixture is well combined (mixture will be thick and gooey!).
2. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly (1-2 minutes).
3. Pour mixture into ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions. Once ice cream has thickened, stir in chopped chocolate and graham crackers.
4. Serve immediately or transfer to an airtight container and freeze until ready to serve.
